All strung out...

All Strung Out RESERVOIR’S Richard Vella is all strung out after scoring a job at one of Australia's premier guitar makers.

In fact, all of the graduates of N-Tech’s guitar-making course have offers from the illustrious Maton Guitar makers in Box Hill.

"I got a call from my guitar teacher and got referred into the course," Vella said, who received the state's highest VCE score for his guitar playing.

"The course was good," he said. "I built an electric guitar and acoustic guitar and we had to build a custom-made one."

It’s the first year the guitar-making course has run and it has been a terrific success.

Program co-ordinator Bon Nardella said: "Maton guitars have people like John Butler and Tommy Emmanuel on their books and they were quite open to the whole idea."

Them Crooked Vultures (abbreviated as TCV), the rock music Supergroup that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2005 is on the way Downunder. Comprising vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss and Eagles of Death Metal), drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) and bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), making the term "Supergroup" a wee understatement.
The band also features Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age) as a live rhythm guitarist. The band's debut album, Them Crooked Vultures, is due for release in November 2009.....
