On the 18th May Ruben Becker attended the dinner for Apprentice of the year at the Holmesglen in Moorabbin and took home 2 awards. One award was for the Top 3rd year apprentice, the other was the runner up craftsmanship of the year.
Congratulations Ruben and well done!
Ruben has worked for Maton since 2005, he started down on the factory floor in the Final Assembly area. Through hard work and dedication he rose to lead that area and did so for over 3 years. Then, a year ago he was given the chance to work in the repairs section with Chris Ffinch, an industry veteran of over 40 years working primarily for Maton.
Ruben started his furniture making course 3 years ago when Maton proposed a work based apprenticeship as an incentive for some of the staff members to develop more wood working skills and Ruben was one of four staff members to take up the opportunity. He had been doing his course at the Holmesglen Tafe and was taught by Chris Beck.
Ruben has been working on a lot of historical guitars during his time and this is just one of them.

Ruben has come a long way since his assembly days and further learning from the Master Chris Ffinch places both Ruben as well as Maton in good stead for the future.
Once again Congratulations Ruben!
